Creativity Unwrapped - David Shilling at Willesden Jewish Cemetery

As part of Heritage Open Day and the 150 Anniversary, Willesden Jewish Cemetery welcomed David Shilling, a founding father of modern millinery and a visionary creator of the most exclusive and extravagant hats in the world.

David shared memories of his family, who are buried in WJC through a fascinating talk to some 100 guests. David then unveiled his new sculpture, Long Life, which now stands by the entrance to the cemetery.

On a very hot day the visitors sheltered in the coolness of the Prayer Hall for David's talk followed by a presentation from our knowledgeable volunteers who revealed the lives and legacies of the artists, architects, and creative industry personalities resting here.
