Guided Walk: From Lyons to Tesco: The Hidden Jewish Stories Behind Britain’s High Street

What do Tesco, Lyons Tea Rooms and H. Samuel have in common?

Their stories are remembered here.

Within the peaceful setting of Willesden Jewish Cemetery lie the lives of the people who helped shape Britain’s high street, visionaries, risk-takers and family dynasties whose ideas transformed how we shop, eat and live.

From great success to sudden downfall, this guided walk reveals the human stories behind familiar names. Discover how the Lyons family revolutionised dining out, how Jack Cohen built a supermarket empire from humble beginnings, and why Harriet Samuel’s legacy still endures.

Join us for a small, volunteer-led walk and uncover remarkable stories in a place of reflection, memory and heritage.
