Key Stage 4: Death and Symbolism in Judaism

Workshop content

Give your students the unique opportunity to unearth the rituals and practices of Jewish mourning.

The Death and Symbolism workshop allows for hands-on investigation of the Orthodox Jewish customs and symbolism with students working in teams.

Each workshop includes:

  • A short introduction and welcome

  • A taught workshop facilitated by our staff and volunteer team

  • The chance to explore the cemetery on foot with a designed trail

Curriculum subjects: religious education, history

Please note: content for secondary schools has been geared towards preparing students for the GCSE curriculum but is relevant to broader study of the Jewish faith for all KS3 and KS4 students.

We have specifically designed all of our resources to be suitable for both Jewish and non-Jewish audiences.

Cost

Taught visits including a workshop and self-guided tour cost £75 per session.

Sessions are best experienced in single class groups, but we can if necessary accommodate two classes, with a maximum of 60 students per session.

If the cost of the session is going to be a barrier for your group please get in touch at heritagelearning@theus.org.uk to find out about subsidised places for schools with high levels of deprivation. These subsidies are limited and are first come, first serve.

Once your session is confirmed we’ll send you an invoice for the full amount. Invoices must be paid two weeks from the invoice date.
